Last week, Hurricane Sandy finished its devastating trek up the Atlantic coast. Early estimates calculate damages at over $20B (not including the economic impact of business interruption). Many of our friends and family along the eastern seaboard have been affected firsthand, from New York to Philadelphia.
Easy Eats has been on the ground in Brooklyn lending a hand and on Twitter
providing information. Here, we are happy to post an open letter to the community from our friend (and founder of Gnosis Chocolate) Vanessa Barg.
In it are some resources to help volunteer or donate as well as ways to support the Red Cross and eat your chocolate, too! Thanks to everyone who has helped so far. Your blessings are felt.

Dearest ChocoLovers,
Our hearts and thoughts are always with you, but they’ve been especially so this
week as we know how many of you and your loved ones have felt the impact of Hurricane Sandy and its aftermath.
We are so deeply grateful for how many of you have expressed concern for our
Team, since we’re a New York City company. We experienced only brief closures
and slight delays at our kitchen and office. Thankfully, all our chocolate is safe and sound. Many of our beloved neighbors, friends, and wholesale partners were not so lucky and are now struggling to fulfill basic needs like shelter, warmth, and clothing.
What affects you, affects us. Our hearts break for your losses and we want to be of service to you in any way we can as you recover your strength (and we have unwavering faith that you will).
We’ll be donating 5% of all online proceeds for the next 24 days
to the Red Cross to support their relief efforts for victims
of Hurricane Sandy. Shop here!
